Elisse Shell, Owner & Director
Elisse Shell received her BS in Ballet from Brigham Young University, earning the prestigious Phyllis C. Jacobson scholarship. While at BYU, Elisse was a member of their pre-professional touring company Theatre Ballet. She traveled all over the western United States doing outreaches and performances. Her choreography was chosen to represent BYU at the American College Dance Festival Association (ACDFA), a prestigious competition attended by all elite college dance programs.After graduating with her Bachelor's Degree, Elisse was offered a choreographic residency at the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, where she studied and created under the tutelage of Summer Lee Rhatigan (English National Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Alonzo King's LINES Ballet) and Bobbi Smith (Julliard, Batsheva Dance Company - Isreal). Her choreography was featured in the Conservatory's summer production, and work shopped with dancers from across the country. Elisse graduated from the University of Utah with her MFA in Ballet, with an emphasis in teaching and choreography. She was offered a scholarship to complete her studies, and also awarded not only classes to teach in the Ballet department, but also the Modern department. While finishing her Master's Degree, Elisse performed with Utah Ballet, Ballet Ensemble, and had numerous pieces in Ballet Showcase. She was invited to choreograph for the Utah chamber orchestra, choreographing for Romeo and Juliet, and was part of a multidiscipline, year-long collaborative project with the music department to choreograph an original, full length ballet to a live clarinet quartet. Elisse has also choreographed for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas performance, Mountain West Ballet, and the Utah Lyric Opera. Elisse teaches using mainly Vaganova methodology, but also incorporates styles and techniques learned and studied under teachers and choreographers from Julliard, The Royal Ballet, The Joffrey Ballet, SAB and ABT. Elisse strives to incorporate knowledge from her studies of Anatomy, Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, Sports Psychology and Child Psychology into her classes, imbuing students with a wide range of knowledge beyond the traditional ballet technique.
